The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has requested the cooperation of the School Education Department for effective implementation of the HPV Vaccination Programme for eligible 14-year-old girls studying in Government and Government-aided schools.
HPV vaccination at 14 years of age provides an important opportunity for protection against cervical cancer. The vaccination is required to be completed before the eligible girls attain 15 years of age. Hence, timely awareness creation and mobilisation are essential.
Accordingly, all Chief Educational Officers are instructed to ensure the following without fail
1. Identification of eligible giris
All Government and Government Aided schools under their jurisdiction shall prepare and maintain an updated list of eligible 14-year-old girls, in coordination with the concerned PHC/Health Department team.
2. Awareness among students and parents
Headmasters shall create awareness among eligible girls and their parents regarding:
Importance and benefits of HPV vaccination;
Safety of vaccination;
Need for timely vaccination; and
Addressing concerns or misconceptions regarding vaccination.
Awareness activities shall be undertaken with the support of teachers and through the School Management Committee (SMC)/Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
