Sub: Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme Expansion to classes VI-VIII in Government and Government aided schools Instructions to the District collectors for implementation of the expansion of the scheme- Regarding.

Kind attention is invited to the reference 1st cited wherein Government have issued orders for the expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme to students of class VI to VIII in Government and Government aided schools. The expansion was initially slated for launch by the Hon'ble Chief Minister on 17.09.2026. It is hereby informed that the launch will be made by the Hon'ble Chief Minister in Chennai on 22.09.2026. On the same day, the expansion of the Scheme shall be launched in all districts except the districts of Chengalpattu and Tiruppur where Model Code of Conduct is in force consequent to the announcement of bye-elections in Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly Constituencies.
The trial-run for the expansion was conducted on 11.09.2026 and any gaps identified during the trial run may be immediately addressed. Necessary preparation measures on all aspects may be undertaken for the seamless launch on 22.09.2026 and continued successful implementation of the Perunthalaivar
Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme expansion to class VI to VIII students of Government and Government aided schools of all districts except Chengalpattu and Tiruppur Districts.
