Clarification on Certain Issues Regarding the Results of the Assistant Professor Recruitment Examination Conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board
The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) hereby clarifies the position regarding certain concerns and issues circulating in public forums and social media relating to certain observations made about the examination process for recruitment to Assistant Professor posts.
Certain allegations have been made suggesting that discrepancies in candidate records indicate compromise or irregularity in the examination process. The Board wishes to categorically state that such claims are factually incorrect, misleading, and without basis.
Online Application and Hall Ticket Generation
Candidates submit their applications through the online portal by entering personal details including name, date of birth, gender, educational qualifications, community, disability status, and other required information.
For the limited purpose of enabling candidates to appear for the written examination, the online system vets the submitted applications using uploaded identity records and photographs. Hall Tickets are generated based on these submitted details.
To ensure that genuine candidates are not denied an opportunity to write the examination due to minor clerical mistakes made while entering their details, candidates are provided an opportunity to seek correction of such inadvertent errors, subject to verification.
Nature of the Reported Errors
The discrepancies currently being discussed pertain solely to certain data-entry errors committed by individual candidates while filling their online applications, and not to any lapse, irregularity, or manipulation by the Teachers Recruitment Board.
Illustrative examples include the following:
Case 1: Incorrect Date of Birth Entry
In one instance, a candidate inadvertently entered 05.06.2006 as the date of birth in the online application instead of the actual date of birth, 27.09.1991.
This error occurred because the candidate mistakenly entered the date appearing under the “TMR Code No. & Date” field in the SSLC mark certificate, instead of entering the actual date of birth recorded in the certificate.
The discrepancy is clearly attributable to an inadvertent data-entry error committed by the candidate during online submission. The relevant documents, namely:
* Copy of the concerned candidate’s online application
* Copy of the candidate’s SSLC mark certificate
have been examined and enclosed for reference. These documents clearly establish the nature of the error and confirm that it was purely clerical in nature, without any bearing on eligibility, merit, or the integrity of the examination process.
Case 2: Certificate Number Entered Instead of Candidate Name
In another instance, a candidate inadvertently entered her SSLC certificate number (AA 2772011) in place of her name while submitting the online application.
Upon noticing the error, the candidate personally appeared before the Teachers Recruitment Board and submitted a representation seeking correction, along with valid supporting identity documents.
After due verification of her credentials and confirmation of her identity, the Board permitted the candidate to appear for the written examination. This procedural correction was made solely to ensure that a genuine candidate was not denied an opportunity on account of an inadvertent clerical error.
The relevant supporting documents, namely:
* Copy of the concerned candidate’s online application
* Copy of the candidate’s representation/petition requesting name correction
* Supporting identity documents submitted for verification have been examined and are enclosed for reference.
This correction did not confer any undue advantage to the candidate, nor did it affect the integrity, fairness, or credibility of the examination process in any manner.
No Impact on Merit or Selection
Such clerical mistakes do not influence evaluation, marks, ranking, merit list preparation, or final selection in any manner.
The written examination, answer script evaluation, and publication of marks are conducted independently through established procedures with adequate safeguards to ensure fairness and objectivity.
Certificate Verification Ensures Final Accuracy
It is important to note that final selection is never based solely on online application entries.
Before final selection and appointment, every shortlisted candidate undergoes mandatory
Certificate Verification (CV) in the presence of officials, during which all critical particulars are rigorously verified against original documents, including:
* Name
* Date of Birth
* Educational Qualifications
* Community Certificates
* Disability Status
* Other eligibility conditions
Only after successful verification are candidates considered for final selection.
Therefore, any minor mismatch or clerical error in the online application is detected and rectified during this stage.
Examination Process Remains Secure and Credible The Teachers
Recruitment Board reiterates that:
* The examination was conducted fairly and securely
* Evaluation and publication of marks were carried out strictly as per established norms
* No candidate received undue advantage due to clerical mistakes
* No aspect of the merit determination process has been compromised
Accordingly, claims that the examination process has been compromised on account of these isolated candidate-side errors are baseless and without merit.
The public, candidates, and stakeholders are requested not to be misled by unverified or incomplete claims.
