Step 2: Mandatory Biometric Unit (MBU)
Verification
Following demographic verification, the MBU status determines if further biometric action is needed.

If the system shows "MBU Status = Not
Required", it indicates that the MBU
verification has already been completed
or is not applicable for the student. No
further action is needed, and the loop
ends.

Verification process concludes
MBU Status: Pending
If "MBU Status =MBU pending (Age
15-17)", the student's biometric data
needs to be captured or re-verified.
Click "Validate Again" or "Re-Validate
for MBU" to initiate or update the MBU
process.
Update takes a minimum of 15 days

MBU NOT Applicable: Pending
If the status is displayed as <MBU
Status: MBU Not Applicableî,
it indicates that the student is above 18
years of age and therefore falls under
the category of MBU Not Applicable.
MBU Conditions: Private Schools
For private schools, the responsibility for MBU verification largely rests with the parents, guided by the Headmaster.
Principal Role
Instructions are provided directly to the Principal of the private school.
The HM is responsible for disseminating this information to the parents.
Parental Responsibility
Parents are required to update their child's MBU records independently.
Updates are to be completed by parents through official Aadhar centres

MBU Conditions: Government & Aided Schools
Different guidelines apply to MBU verification based on student count in government and government-aided schools.

for timely MBU updates, instead of waiting for the camps.

For schools with fewer than 30 students, self-update of
MBU records is facilitated through Aadhar centres. This
option prioritizes accessibility for smaller institutions.
Schools with Above 30 students
In schools with over 30 Non scholarship students , these students can update their MBU at ELCOT camps, Post Office camps
. This ensures timely processing for students receiving financial aid.
Provisions for MBU Verification
To ensure no student is left behind, alternative channels are available for MBU updates, especially for Govt/Govt-Aided school
categories and scholarship recipients.

(E-sevai) channels for MBU updates.
Post Office Camps- above 30 students
Designated Post Office MBU status camps provide another accessible option for completing the verification process.-5

Instructions for Updating Student MBU Status in EMIS
1. Check UDISE+ Portal
Go to Active students
If status shows <MBU Pending or <MBU Not Required, proceed to EMIS.
2. Update in EMIS Portal
Login ³ Student ³ Student Details ³ Aadhar Verification
Change status to <MBU Already Done
This will update as <MBU Verified
3. Scholarship Eligibility
In EMIS, Scholarship Status is available in a separate column.
Ensure MBU verification is completed for accurate eligibility
' Action Required: Give priority to updating MBU status for scholarship students to enable timely scholarship benefits.
