Proposed schedule for Training of polling personnel

1st Training

(separately for each category Pro, PO1, PO2,PO3)

On or before 02.04.2026 (Thursday)

2nd Training

for Team together PrO+PO1+PO2 +PO3

11.04.2026 (Saturday)

2nd Repeat training (same as 2nd training)

20.04.2026 (Monday)

3rd Training

P-1 Day (Pre Poll Day)

Sub: Training General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2026 Training for Polling Personnel Instructions-Communicated-Reg.

Ref: Letter received from Election Commission of India letter No ECI/PN/029/2026, dated 15th March, 2026.

I am directed to state that the Election Commission of India, in its letters cited has communicated the schedule for the General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2026 and the date of poll will be on 23.04.2026.

2. In connection with General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2026, the training has to be imparted to all elections related officials especially Polling Personnel. I am to furnish below a tentative schedule for the training of polling personnel to be imparted for the above said elections.

3. In addition to the above, I am to request you to take into notice the following points of action, for effective conduct of the training Programme:-

Important action points:

Total number of polling personnel to be trained should be at least

120% of the required Personnel. Accessible Elections: The facilitation provided to the PwDs should be clearly explained to the polling personnel.

 Service of orders to be made within 2 days of first randomization.

First Training

Should be done in Batch of around 40 persons in class room environment.

Separately for PrO, PO1, PO2, РОЗ. To be imparted by Zonal Officers/AROS/RO.

Practical Sessions with dummy polling station may be set up. Full set of polling material to be supplied.

Role play to be done.

Practice of filling up Statutory and other Forms. At the end of training, it should be indicated to them where

they should come for getting orders after second randomization.

Form 12/12A for Postal Ballots to be collected during the training.

Second Training

To be given for the entire polling team group-together.

To be given by zonal officers of the constituency.

Actual polling booth scenarios to be enacted.

Postal ballots to be issued and necessary arrangements

made to receive the polled PBs. o Trial sending of poll turnout through PRO Mobile App to be done.

Second Repeat training

Same as second training

Ensure that there are no absentees

Third training

Basically for service of orders preferably in locations which have sufficient with number of rooms.

To ensure fast service of orders, the examination hall approach should be adopted. The polling station number should be pasted on the benches

in the class room in order, and the staff should sit together on the allocated bench (one polling station personnel together).

Zonal officer would then serve the order to the polling personnel of their zone.

Pre familiarization of the actual team members and concerned zonal officers.

Clarify last minute doubts if any.

Fourth refresher training

To be given at the polling station by the zonal officer. Confirming the presence of polling personnel at polling station and pre familiarity of the actual situation with EVM's and other polling materials.

Final doubts clarification.

4. The above instructions should be followed scrupulously.
